The second book is a continuation of the flock being on the run. They are headed to Washington D.C.. They never know where they are going or why; Max just always has a sense of where to go. On their way to this destination Fang is injured by an eraser. The flock is forced to take him to the hospital, because he is injured too badly. This is very dangerous for the flock because keeping their identity a secret is very important to their survival. Here, a nurse calls an FBI agent when she sees Fang's wings. They make and agreement with Anne, the FBI agent, to live at her house for safety. The only catch is that she is allowed to study them in return. Here the flock becomes comfortable, letting their guard down and not worrying about danger anymore.
The flock also attends a private school; this is for the needy and disabled, so they seem to fit right in. Anne is the one who forces them to go. The flock was raised in a science lab so they have no sort of knowledge, except survival. They begin to treat Anne as a mother, because none of the kids know who their parents are. This is exactly what Anne wanted. At the end of this book Anne reveals herself as a member of the lab in which the flock was created. She does show affection to the children, because she feels as if they really are her children since she helped to create them. Her greed for science over powers her lust as a mother however. This is the end of the book; it leaves you hanging wanting to immediately pick up the next one.

The Angel Experiment-Book 1
The title of the books centers around the story line. Throughout the story the flock races through adventure after adventure to find Angel. Angel is captured by evil scientists after they escape the laboratory. The main scientist against them is their so-called caretaker, who they thought they could trust; his name is Jeb. He supposedly died/left the flock, so it was a shock to find out that he was the one trying to capture and kill the flock. Also trying to kill them is Ari. He was their "stepbrother". He got turned into an eraser, which is every bird kids worst nightmare. Erasers are human-lupine creatures; when they get angry the morph into wolf-like creatures. This book is where Max finds out her true destiny as a human-avian. She was created to save the world. The book will not tell you from what, or when she is destined to do this. Max, of course, is so stubborn that she has her own plans for the future, and it doesn't include saving the world. As a leader, she just intends to protect her flock and save Angel.
This book is great, but is very vague on detail. It is only an introduction to the story and to the rest of the books. All of the action with the erasers, and the surprise of Jeb being alive makes the read very exciting and suspenseful. Angel being kidnapped early in the story is foreshadowing to her deceiving ways of always wanting full control, and doing what is best for herself and not the flock as a whole. The book was released in 2005, so is considerably new. I strongly recommend this book, and the ones to follow.

DYLAN
Dylan comes into play in Fang. He is a human avian, such as the rest of the flock. It is unknown if he is on the good or bad side yet. He was created by Dr. Gunther-Hagen (evil scientist). He however, has shown great dedication to the flock, but mainly towards Max. Dylan was programmed/trained to take Fang's place. The only thing he knows how to do is fight and love Max; she doesn't love him back though. He now lives with the flock, and has become very popular with them.
Dylan is an amazing fighter. He is so much more progressed than anyone in the flock. He can move at lightening speed, and he packs a mean punch. Dylan was designed like a model. He has a to-die-for body and luscious brown hair. He has beautiful chocolate colored wings also. He has a surfer tan and baby blue eyes. To make things short, he is every girls dream guy. Plus he can sing like a God! Dylan has no special powers because he was not created by the same evil scientist as the rest of the flock, and was created in a time where science was much more progressed.

ANGEL
Angel is my favorite character, but at the same time my least favorite character. She is very deceiving and mysterious. She is only 6, but has the mind of a genius. She can manipulate anyone and anything to do what she wants. Part of this has to do with the fact that she has mind control powers. Not only can she manipulate people, but she can hear their thoughts. Angel did not establish these powers until half way through the book. This is along with her ability to breath under water. She has gray and black wings, with an unknown wingspan.
Angel is the one in the flock that you can't trust. That's why it makes it easy not to like her. She had switched sides multiple times, helping out the evil scientists. When she was caught she insisted that it was for the flocks' own good. It is easy to forgive her, but then she goes and does it again. She is all about benefiting herself, and believes that in turn that should benefit the entire flock. She is always trying to find ways to out-do Max. Angel wants all the power and Max is holding her back. It's hard to figure out which side Angel is on, and that is what makes her character so exciting to follow.

GAZZY
Gazzy is a nickname for the Gasman. The flock calls him this because of his bodily functions. Let's just say he is one smelly guy, and he uses this to his advantage. He is 8 years old throughout part of the series, and then turns 9. He doesn't actually know when his birthday is, he just guesses every year. The Gasman has blond hair and blue eyes, and is the only one in the flock that has an actual sibling. This is Angel. The Gasmans power is to make a gas bubble that will grow to fill an entire room. It is so potent that it would make everyone pass out. This is what Max calls the mushroom cloud.
The color of his wings are brown with white spots, and his wingspan is 10 ft. He is very tall for his age, and actually appears much older than he is.The Gasman is a go-with-the-flow kind of guy. He doesn't much have an opinion, he just does what he is told. He spends his time passing gas, and finding new ways to make bombs with Iggy. Although the flock is really tough Gazzy has a huge fear of spiders, and he is very claustrophobic. This comes from being in cages as a child.
