At the beginning of the book, the flock is trying to recover from their arctic adventure. While recovering, they hear of millions of fish dying off the coast of Hawaii. The reason why is unknown, so they government requests the flocks help once again. They unexpectedly come across the problem when Angel went swimming (she can breathe under water). Max, of course, was being too protective and went to fetch her. On her way she spotted something large and scary off in the distance. They immediately told the environmentalists, but nothing showed up on the radar. Not surprisingly it was Mr. Chu, the evil scientist that's been after the flock the whole time. He wants Max to join his side, so is following her every move to more easily convince her of his power. He finally grabs her attention when he captures the most important thing in her life, Valencia Martinez. He had her mom, and now she was lost. Her mom had helped her through everything, so it was up to her to help bring her back.
The "large something" happened to be Mr. Chu's submarine. Aboard it was Max's mom. Mr. Chu frequently beat her trying to get more information about Max out of her. He wanted to know where they were headed and what their plans were. He also starved her to try and receive more information. This did not work. Valencia was strong and she loved Max very much, there was no way she would give in. Max came across the ship due to Angel communicating with whales. The whales were able to tell her where the ship was and that it was what was killing the fish. The submarine was hit and water started bursting in. This was Max's chance. She had seen her mom through one of the windows and she did not look good. She was thin and bruised all over. Max got to her mom without a fight; she was rescued and brought to safety to rest and become healthy once again.

THE FINAL WARNING- BOOK 4
In this book Max discovers who her mother is. She is a veterinarian who lives in a quaint cottage in the country. This means that Max has also gained a sister. Her mother has known about her being an avian her whole life, but was not able to find Max. You also discover that Jeb, the evil scientist/pretend father, is her real father and is married to Valencia. All of this is a lot for Max to handle. Max really trusts her mom, so she is able to somewhat accept Jeb as her father. Max's mom convinces the flock to go on a trip to the antarctic. Valencia is part of a group of scientists trying to save the world naturally. They are planning a trip to the antarctic to study the fish and the land. She suggests that it would be safer there for the flock, so they agree to go. They are forced to live in a submarine, which is a challenge for the flock because of safety issues. They are all scared of tight spaces in case of an attack.
On the trip Fang has a crush on one of the scientists, making Max very jealous, allowing Fang to realize how strong her feelings for him really are. Not only do they find love, but so does Total. He falls in love with the science dog Akila. She is a huge, fluffy, white dog. The flock really enjoys their time here because they are able to let their guard down. They are not bothered by scientists at all, and they enjoy the feeling of being needed. They are constantly doing tests of the Earth and watching the lifestyles of the fish.
Of course the perfect trip couldn't last forever. When they are packing up to leave no one can find Angel. She was walking with Akila and fell in an ice crevice. It happens to be in the middle of a snow storm. The flock spreads out to search for her, but because of the cold and blowing snow it is hard for them to fly at a high altitude. When they finally find angel, she is trapped in a crevice with Akila on top of her. Akila is too heavy for the flock to carry out, so they are forced to stay out in the blizzard. They build a snow wall around where she is trapped to try to block the wind. They are freezing cold and starting to loose feeling in their body when the evil scientists and the erasers show up. They cannot fight because their bodies are numb. Therefore the flock is captured. This is the end of this book. What happens next will proceed in the next book.

SAVING THE WORLD AND OTHER EXTREME SPORTS- BOOK 3
This book, Max and the rest of the flock are still fighting off erasers and trying to solve their destiny of saving the world. Only this time it becomes more complicated. The flock is searching for their parents, only becoming more disappointed each time. Fang and Max start to realize their feelings for each other, making it very awkward for them to be around each other. Max is against falling for Fang because of the flock, although she can't help to think about him constantly.
Due to Max and Fangs' tensions they can't agree on anything. The flock ends up splitting up. At first it seems as if everyone is going to leave Max, but eventually the girls begin to feel pity for her and decide to go. Fang decides to hide out, keeping a low profile, while working on his blog. He has a blog that keeps the world up to par on the earliest flock drama. Max however, gets on a plane to Europe in search of the powerful scientists. She ends up being captured and held captive. She has no way to contact Fang and she knows that he will not come in search of her because of their fight.
What happens to Max and the girls is unknown. You will have to read to find out. The author purposely leaves a lot of details out, allowing the reader to fill in the details, so the book can be depicted in many ways. This book allows your imagination to run wild, because there is so much happening. It makes it that much more intense that the flock is split up during the most dramatic time.
